Local councils (New Zealand)

Early access for New Zealand councils that manage building consent, resource consent and property files; join the waitlist.

Where the time goes

  • Consent files mix applications, plans, reports and statements
  • Property files hold decades of paper and microfiche images
  • Staff look for documents across several systems for one request
  • Information requests need documents found and dated quickly

What is in the early-access pack

The local authority pack is available to early-access customers. Document types cover building consent applications and amendments, producer statements (design, design review, construction and construction review), engineer reports and plans, code compliance certificate applications and notices, inspection records, property file items that feed a LIM, resource consent applications, submissions and decisions, official information requests and responses, and unclassified backfile pages scanned from paper or microfiche.

Starter schemas extract fields such as council, consent number, consent type, property address, legal description, applicant, agent, the dates lodged, accepted, decided and issued, producer statement type and author, inspection type and result as recorded, request reference, and the dates printed on an information request. Cross-document indexes cover consent number, resource consent number, property address, legal description, council, consent type, producer statement type, request reference, LIM item category and backfile batch. Smart folders group files into building consent applications, resource consents, construction review statements, information requests, LIM notices and orders, and microfiche backfile.

What is still being confirmed

Early-access packs are built from public form and agency guidance; some details are still being checked and may change. They have not been validated on production customer documents, and forms and fields will be confirmed with early-access customers. Reviewers compare documents using the extracted data and search; the pack does not check a file for completeness or compare documents automatically. Where your forms are not covered, your team can define additional schemas.

Where people stay in the loop

Each extracted field has a model-reported confidence score (not calibrated). When you turn on Human in the Loop for an upload, processing pauses at the steps you choose so a person can check the source document and correct the data before it continues. Documents that match no schema are flagged. The pack does not decide consents, certificates or information requests; council staff do. Key actions are written to an audit log.

The pack is not a records-management or retention system, and it does not decide or manage how long records are kept or when they are disposed of. Document text is processed by the AI service and stored in the search index, which matters for any file that contains restricted or personal information.

Questions we hear

Is there a pack for New Zealand councils?
Yes, in early access. It ships document types, starter schemas, cross-document indexes, sample questions and smart folders for consent and property files. It has not been validated on production documents.
Does it decide consents or information requests?
No. It reads and organises documents. Decisions, certificates and responses stay with council staff.
Is it a records-management system?
No. It does not decide or manage how long records are kept or when they are disposed of. Keep your records system for that.
What does early access mean?
We are opening New Zealand gradually. Join the waitlist and we will contact you about fit, scope and timing. Features and availability may change. Early access: not yet validated on New Zealand documents with customers.
Where does AI processing run?
Data location can be agreed in an Order Form on Private and Enterprise plans; where AI processing runs is disclosed before you sign. Document text is processed by an AI service.
